Expressions of interest for volunteer members of the Staff International Working Group (SIE) and Ambassador Sub-Committee are being accepted until November 28, 2016 at Selection of members will be based on evidence of leadership capability, interest in Western's international mandate, and capacity to liaise successfully with the University staff community. Our goal is to have participation from all employee groups. Participation in SIE and the Ambassador Sub-Committee can also provide valuable planning and leadership experience. Please note in your expression of interest if you are interested in the SIE Working Group and Ambassador Sub-Committee, or just one. If you have questions about the expression of interest process, please contact the SIE co-chairs Ingrid Johnston at or Jennifer Meister at Information about SIE, the SIE Working Group and the Ambassador Sub-Committee is below.

All about SIE
The Staff International Engagement Working Group (SIE) was formed in 2013 to involve Western employees in the University's international strategy. Since inception, SIE has worked with Western International to provide opportunities for staff to develop international competence. Through SIE programs, Western staff have travelled to Vietnam, Kenya, Malawi, the Netherlands, the U.K., and Australia, just to name a few of the places. The SIE's Ambassador Sub Committee has represented SIE at numerous campus events, planned the successful Experience Vietnam event and is now hard at work on the Explore the Caribbean lunch.

SIE Working Group
In addition to the one-hour monthly meetings, SIE members are expected to participate in an SIE subcommittee. This may involve coordinating and reviewing applications, and interviewing staff members for the Leave for Change or Western Staff International Exchange Program, or representing SIE at various campus events such as International Week and Staff Conference Week.

Ambassador Sub-Committee
The Ambassador Sub Committee also meets monthly to explore and offer broader opportunities for staff to develop as global citizens, such as the Experience Vietnam and Explore the Caribbean lunches. Ambassadors are also expected to participate in spreading the word about various SIE initiatives to their colleagues.
